British based BornBound athlete Kieran Lindars has raced to a career best to finish 2nd behind Kristian Blummenfelt at the Ironman Frankfurt European Championship, August 18th 2024. With a time of 7:32:14 this is also potentially a new British Record, subject to ratification of the bike leg distance, but Ironman are claiming it as a new British Ironman Record.
After a difficult year and following going into the red with severe exhaustion at the 2023 European Long Course in Almere, and despite almost defending his 2022 title to finish 2nd in doing so, Kieran has had to work hard to recover and re-group since and has been working hard on a new nutrition strategy before targeting the Ironman European Championships this year to gain qualification for Kona. His phenomenal performance was underlined with a 2:37 marathon on the run leg, so his nutritional strategy is certainly working.
Kieran also believes he has found some great gains in his equipment this year and since joining the BornBound team he has worked hard with us to test our new Skärvatten Pro tri suit and in-depth aero testing has proven that for him our new Pro suit is worth 14 watts at 50kph when benchmarked against the claimed fastest suit in the world. An extrapolated 2.5 mins advantage over a full Ironman bike leg is just part of a fantastic year of preparation for Kieran but you too can gain some huge marginal gains by choosing to race in the Skärvatten Pro suit. We can only speculate how many minutes the suit is worth over less aerodynamic suits than the claimed world’s fastest, and at £230 the Skärvatten Pro is about the best watts saving per £££ available!
Look HERE for the new suits and pre-order for delivery in September if you’re targeting a key race to cap off your season!
